I was diagnosed at 3 years old and was told that my life expectancy would be 15· years. I am now 45 years old and 23 years post double lung transplant and just made 10 years post kidney transplant.

During the summer of 1997 I noticed that no matter what I did I would sometimes be swollen.

I can't even begin to explain how grateful I am for the gift of life I have received. My life has changed drastically for the better!

I call this, MY SECOND CHANCE AT LIFE!

I cannot say thank you enough to Bobby Champagne's parents. The fact that he was not even a donor and the parents made the ultimate decision to give life to the next persons. I am absolutely honored to have his kidney and I take full pride and joy in taking good care of this miracle. It has now been 11 years and I am still doing well.

“The cardiologist rushed in to read the results, he confirmed I was having a heart attack. How could this be? I was 20 years old, athletic and healthy. The news shocked me.”

To the gentleman who gave his life so that I could live mine--I will always be eternally grateful. He thought enough to donate his organs so that many would be able to sustain a healthy and loving life with their families.

They saved me. They saved my family from having to say goodbye. They saved me in my fight against CF. They helped me win. For that, I am so thankful.

I see the value from both sides and encourage others to register!

When reflecting back on all of these events I often ask myself, have I done all that I can do with this extra time that God has given me.

While Carter was in the hospital we began to see just what a good liver can make you feel like. Carter was always a happy, good child but now we had a silly, giggly little boy.

One of the things I enjoy is seeing people's faces when I tell them I had recent had a liver transplant. Their eyes get big and jaws drop. They are amazed that I'm walking around and feeling great.

This amazing individual wanted to help save lives like mine!

I am able to enjoy life with my family and friends because someone else’s family chose to donate life.

I signed up to be an organ donor when I first got my license, not realizing that I would one day be the one in need of a transplant; because of my diabetes, I could not donate blood or join the military. When I learned some of my organs could possibly help another, I felt like I could finally do something to help another life if needed.

Jack took his first trip back to Nepal post transplant, and this time, he took the Donate Life flag, using it to spread donor awareness and share his story of hope with not only our state, but the world!

Organ donation offers life to more than just the organ recipients. My family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, church family, and many more have been touched by the gift of life through my new heart. We are grateful that my donor, my hero, said yes to the gift of life.
